Pitru Paksha Tarpan Puja

Pitru Paksha is an ancient tradition or ritual dedicated to our ancestors. During Pitru Paksha, everyone gathers to pay homage to their respective ancestors by performing the rituals diligently. Pitru Paksha usually starts during Purnima of the Bhadra month and lasts till Amavasya of Ashvin month, per Hindu calendars.

• This puja is performed on every Amavasya.

During Pitru Paksha, you must visit Ganga and make offerings to your ancestors. There are certain ingredients that you will need to make the Tarpan. Whether you’re new or know about Tarpan vidhi, you must follow the right procedure and provide the right offerings.

You will need ingredients like Kush, Jau (barley), Akshath and Kaala til (black sesame seeds) to perform the Tarpan properly. If you don’t have access to these ingredients, our Pandits at MyTirthPuja will arrange it all for you.
While making the offerings, the Pandit will guide you through the process and chant the mantras. You must also repeat the mantras and keep chanting them.
After making the offerings, you should pray to your ancestors and ask for forgiveness for your mistakes. Praying for the well-being of your ancestors and seeking forgiveness will bring prosperity and blessings from them. You cannot perform Tarpan vidhi at home.
